NonVisual Desktop Access (NVDA) is a free, open source, portable screen
reader for Microsoft Windows, first started by Michael Curran in 2006.
NVDA uses eSpeak as its integrated speech synthesizer, and also supports
SAPI synthesizers. Output to Braille displays is supported officially from
Version 0.6p3 onwards.
Tech Tip: NVDA, the most popular open source screen reader has a robotic
multi-lingual synthesizer named eSpeak. NVDA is being developed by an
active community. There some NVDA add-ons as well to make applications
more accessible. The NVDA User Guide can be located in the NVDA menu-
Tools submenu- User Guide.
